Sacred Heart Shelter has two major funding events during the year.

The SHS Golf Tournament

Every year for twelve years, Sacred Heart Shelter holds its annual “Invest in People” Golf Tournament. This year, the tournament will take place on June 28 at Rainer Golf & Country Club. The Fundraising Advisory Board of the shelter actively organizes and conducts this major event fundraiser for Sacred Heart Shelter, and the outstanding support the tournament enjoys contributes almost 14% of the shelter’s annual budget. That success is due principally to the tireless efforts of the Board, shelter staff and dozens of volunteers who collaborate in the planning, organizing and conduct of the day’s activities. Sovereign Military Order Of Maltaare principal sponsors of the “Invest in People” tournament, and Golf Events LLC will assisting for the first time in 2006 in accomplishing the work of the tournament. It has become a very popular event, and golfers and friends come from some distances to participate.  Golfers, dinner guests and other friends enjoy two gourmet meals, the evening is conducted by celebrity emcees, and the lively auction and other golfing activities are provided by many generous sponsors.

Sacred Heart Soupline

Sacred Heart Shelter also conducts its annual “Soupline,” a second fundraiser event. Soupline, held in mid-October, promotes awareness of the shelter’s work and the issues pertaining to homeless families and women. The popular downtown Seattle event is structured as a lunchtime social, and offers supporters and friends of SHS to meet one another and to invite friends and family into this community of dedicated contributors.

Again, active supporters of SHS– well-known corporations, businesses, restaurants, hotels, bakeries, and churces – donate their time and products to create a lively, friendly and family style event at Plymouth Congregational Church on Sixth Avenue. The law firm of Karr, Tuttle, Campbell is the principal sponsor of Soupline, and the Duwamish Mountain Boys provide their unique brand of Bluegrass entertainment. With the generous, donated support of so many friends of SHS, nominal admission income and that of the raffle held during the lunch.
